Bryan Carroll said Sunday that he will no longer be CEO of Vietnam’s TNEX digital bank starting this April to move to the neobank’s board.

“I have made the very difficult decision to step down as CEO of TNEX at the end of the month,” he posted via LinkedIn.

Carroll has led huge growth for TNEX since he in 2019 co-founded the neobank, owned by Vietnam Maritime Commercial Joint Stock Bank (MSB), and has been widely lauded as a good leader.

TNEX has so far made no announcements.

In March 2019, Carroll became CEO of TNEX, Vietnam’s first digital-only bank. Between then and June 2021, he was also the chief digital officer at MSB.

TNEX now serves over 1.6 million customers and is recognized as one of the most innovative and technologically advanced platforms in Asia, he said.

The OPEC Fund for International Development is providing a $40 million loan to MSB for on-lending to small- and medium-sized enterprises, tit said earlier this month. The loan will support at least 80 local businesses, providing financing to meet critical needs to grow their operations.
