Da Nang welcomed 220 tourists from Incheon on Friday in the first South Korea-Da Nang commercial flight after more than two years of hiatus due to Covid-19.

"South Korea was continuously the leading market of Da Nang's tourism sector for many years before the outbreak of Covid-19. The restoration of this market is of great interest to the city," said Nguyen Xuan Binh, Deputy Director of Danang Department of Tourism.

Currently, the Da Nang-Seoul route has six flights per week, departing from Da Nang at 23:45 p.m. every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday or at 7:00 a.m. every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.

Yoo Jin Woo, a Korean tourist, said he felt very surprised and happy when receiving a warm welcome from Da Nang authorities and people at the airport. "The reason I chose Da Nang for this trip is Koreans mention Da Nang a lot."

He plans to go to the Ba Na Hill tourist area, see the sea and then visit Hoi An. “This is my first overseas trip after the pandemic became normal," Yoo Jin Woo added.

Da Nang has kicked of its sea tourism season this year with many activities like the opening of the An Thuong tourism street area, inaugurating the "nighttime My An beach space", paragliding, rowing SUP, sailing show, artistic sand sculpture contests, and street festivals.

In 2018, on average, there were 10-12 direct flights per day from Seoul, Busan, and Incheon in South Korea to Da Nang, peaking at about 20 flights per day. In 2019, about 900,000 South Korean tourists came to Quang Nam, and nearby Da Nang alone welcomed more than 1.7 million.

Vietnam fully reopened its tourism market from March 15, after over two years of paralysis due to the heavy impact of the pandemic.

The Ministry of Health has issued a document instructing the suspension of Covid-19 declarations at all border gates of Vietnam for people entering the country from April 27, 2022.
