A guest had recently complained about a dormitory security camera at The Barn Home Farm in Dalat town, Vietnam's Central Highlands, prompting official intervention.

According to Le Anh Kiet, head of the local Department of Culture and Information, the hostel operator has since been requested to remove the device.

The owner explained the camera had been installed in an eight-person dormitory to prevent theft, and placed at the center of the room to draw attention.

"However, since installing such a camera in a dormitory is illegal, the owner has been requested to remove the device and offer guests secure lockers instead," Kiet said Friday.

On the same day, The Barn Home Farm apologized via its social media account for causing visitors an unpleasant experience.
