Press Authority chief appointed deputy information minister

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh Saturday appointed Nguyen Thanh Lam, director of the Press Authority as Deputy Minister of Information and Communications in charge of press and publishing.

After graduating from the French language faculty of Hanoi National University, Lam started his career as a French-language editor at Vietnam Television (VTV) in 1993.

Over the next 20 years, he switched from the French language segment at VTV to the Vietnamese language segment, and became a well-known journalist.

Lam later became general director of VTC Digital Television; and deputy chief of the Press Authority under the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIT).

In August 2016, he was appointed director of the MoIT’s Department of Broadcasting-Electronic Information. He has held the position of director of the ministry's Authority of Press since February 2020.

The MoIT currently has five deputy ministers: Phan Tam, Pham Anh Tuan, Nguyen Huy Dung, Pham Duc Long, and Nguyen Thanh Lam. The ministry is headed by Nguyen Manh Hung.
