Real estate, banking stocks rally

The real estate and banking stocks rallied Wednesday on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE), with many hitting their ceiling prices.

Notably, NVL of Novaland saw its trading value triple that in the previous session to VND410 billion ($17.48 million). The stock closed at the ceiling price of VND14,900 ($0.64), with more than 1.26 million shares waiting for buyers. 

With a three-day gaining streak, NVL was among stocks having the most positive impacts on the VN-Index, which represents the HoSE.

Many other real estate stocks also attracted strong cash flows like PDR of Phat Dat Corp, with more than 13 million shares worth over VND200 billion ($8.53 million) matched; DXG of Dat Xanh Group (VND120 billion), DIG of DIG Corp (VND114 billion), and VHM of Vinhomes (VND50 billion).

The finance-banking group continued to be a magnet to domestic and foreign investors, with over VND3,000 billion ($127.96 million) in trading value, accounting for more than a third of the market's figure.

Closing the session, the VN-Index went up 2.41 points or 0.23% to 1,055.76, with 249 gainers and 137 losers. The HCMC bourse saw more than 545 million shares changing hands for over VND8,858 billion ($377.82 million).

Foreign investors continued to be net buyers for the 13th consecutive session to the tune of nearly VND250 billion ($10.66 million) on the HoSE, the lowest level since early November 2022. They mainly purchased CTG of Vietinbank, VIC of Vingroup, VHM, and FUEVFVND certificate.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse gained 1.04 points to 211.67, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market was down 0.11 points to 72.37.
