Techcombank chairman's daughter registers to buy 82 mln shares

Ho Thuy Anh, the daughter of Techcombank chairman Ho Hung Anh, has registered to buy over 82 million TCB shares as a personal investment.

Ho Thuy Anh, the daughter of Techcombank chairman Ho Hung Anh, has registered to buy over 82 million TCB shares as a personal investment. 

The transaction is expected to be executed through the order match and agreement method from August 25 to September 19, according to an announcement from the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE).

According to the TCB price on Tuesday of VND33,100 ($1.39) per share, Thuy Anh is expected to spend VND2.72 trillion ($114.2 million) on the deal.

If successful, she will increase her holding of TCB shares from 22.47 million to 104.66 million, equivalent to about a 2.98% stake, and putting her among the 40 richest investors on the Vietnam stock exchange with estimated assets of about VND3.5 trillion ($146.9 million).

Previously, Thuy Anh had bought her initial 22.47 million TCB shares through the agreement method from July 12 to July 16, 2021 for an estimated VND1.1 trillion ($46.2 million).

Chairman Ho Hung An's family currently holds a significant amount of the bank's shares, of which, he owns more than 39.3 million TCB shares, equivalent to a 1.12% stake; his wife Nguyen Thanh Thuy owns more than 174 million shares, and his mother Nguyen Thi Thanh Tam holds more than 174 million shares. In addition, his son Ho Anh Minh owns nearly 138 million shares and his sister-in-law Nguyen Huong Lien has more than 69.6 million shares.

Techcombank reported total operating income of VND18.6 trillion ($780.9 million) and pre-tax profit of VND11.3 trillion ($474.4 million) in the first six months of the year.
