A Friday seminar on the development of renewable energy in Vietnam, held by The Investor, will provide a platform for the government and sector to discuss pressing issues on this meaningful development.

The Hanoi event is expected to help solve obstacles in the domestic renewables market, and add comments to the nation’s draft Power Master Plan VIII (PDP VIII).

Vietnam is promoting the development of renewable energy as it targets carbon neutrality by 2050. Therefore, PDP VIII, which will serve until 2030 with vision until 2045, is of great significance, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade having submitted its draft PDP VIII to the government on November 11.

In Vietnam’s reality, many renewable energy investors have been facing difficulties in developing their projects and selling electricity to the national grid.

Therefore, critical ideas argue that it is necessary to have a clear and scientific roadmap toward this development, and regulators have to remove existing barriers.

The event will welcome leaders from the ministry, its Department of Electricity and Renewable Energy, the Party Central Economic Commission, the Ministry of Planning and Investment's Department of Industrial Economy, the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Group, the National Assembly Economic Committee, together with energy and financial experts, and representatives of leading renewable energy developers in Vietnam.

The Vietnam Association of Foreign Invested Enterprises (VAFIE) will submit to the Prime Minister policy recommendations made at the workshop.
