Vietjet Air launches Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar-Nha Trang direct flight

Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet Air has announced a direct flight service between Mongolian capital Ulaanbaatar and the coastal city of Nha Trang in central Vietnam.

The carrier announced the launch Thursday at the Vietnam-Mongolia Business Forum in the presence of Mongolian President Ukhnaagiin Khurelsukh, who is on a five-day (November 1-5) visit to Vietnam.

The Ulaanbaatar-Nha Trang service will begin operations from December 15, 2023 with two round-trip flights per week, taking around five and a half hours per leg.

The carrier said the service would meeting the needs of Mongolian citizens and tourists traveling to Nha Trang, and vice versa.

Nha Trang is a world-famous coastal city in Vietnam, known for its pleasant weather, long sunny beaches with blue seas and other attractive features like the Ponagar Cham Towers, Hon Tre, diverse and distinctive cuisine, and the nation’s central coastal culture.

The Ulaanbaatar-Nha Trang flight will facilitate and promote investment, tourism and cultural exchanges between the two nations, Vietjet Air said in a statement.

Vietjet now operates many direct flights to international destinations including Australia, Indonesia, Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, South Korea, India and Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, one of its competitors, Bamboo Airways, also a private airline in Vietnam, has closed a series of international routes in a major reshuffle to stay afloat following the arrest of the budget carrier’s chairman Trinh Van Quyet in March 2022.
