Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet Air is substantially increasing its number of air routes to India, raising the total to 17 starting this September.

Direct services from Hanoi to Ahmedabad, Hyderabad and Bangalore will debut on September 27, October 7 and November 2, respectively.

From Ho Chi Minh City, the first Vietjet flights will take off for the three Indian cities respectively on September 29, October 10 and November 1.

The routes between Da Nang and the three Indian destinations will be launched on November 28 and 29 and December 1, respectively.

Four flights will be operated on each of these new routes weekly.

The carrier will also start new services between the resort island of Phu Quoc off southern Vietnam and the Indian cities of Mumbai and New Delhi from September 8 and 9, respectively, with three to four flights per week.

Those from Danang to Mumbai and New Delhi will be launched on October 17 and 18, respectively.

Vietjet Air is currently operating four air routes to India, connecting Hanoi and HCMC with New Delhi and Mumbai.

The budget airline launched on July 3 direct routes between Hanoi and Japan’s top travel destinations Nagoya and Fukuoka. From July, four to seven Vietjet flights per week connect the seaside city of Danang with Busan in South Korea.

With Vietnam's tourism fully reopened, domestic airlines have rapidly increased either flight frequency or new routes.

Vietnam lifted health declaration requirements on April 27 and dropped its Covid-19 testing requirement for people entering the country on May 15.
