Nguyen Van Tho appointed Vietnam Customs chief
Nguyen Van Tho, deputy director general of the General Department of Vietnam Customs, has been promoted as its director general with effect from September 1, 2024.
A decision on the promotion was signed Monday by Minister of Finance Ho Duc Phoc.

Tho was born in 1972 in the northern province of Hai Duong. From 2002 to 2014, he worked at the Vietnam Customs's anti-smuggling investigation department. He was appointed vice head of the department in October 2014.
Tho became head of the customs authority's department of personnel organization in July 2018 and its deputy director general in September 2021.
On the same day, the Ministry of Finance granted a retirement decision to Vietnam Customs director general Nguyen Van Can.
