Within the framework of a recent working trip to Laos's Pakse city, a delegation from the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese (SCOV) presented a “Vietnamese Bookcase” to the Laos-Vietnam Friendship School in Champasak province.

This initiative, jointly implemented by the SCOV and Vietnam Education Publishing House (VEPH), aims to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language within the overseas Vietnamese community.

Speaking at the ceremony, Nguyen Trung Kien, chairman of the SCOV, praised the teaching and learning achievements of the school’s teachers and students.

He emphasized that the "Vietnamese Bookcase" will serve as a valuable resource, helping students nurture a love for the Vietnamese language, develop reading culture, and broaden their knowledge.

The book collection was carefully curated by Vietnam Education Publishing House, which has nearly 70 years of experience in publishing educational materials.

Its content spans a wide variety of genres suitable for school students: comics, folk tales, popular science books, moral and life skills education materials, as well as resources supporting Vietnamese language learning.

These books not only help students approach the Vietnamese language in a natural and engaging way but also instill national pride and foster love for the Vietnamese culture.

The book presentation in Champasak was a highlight of the Vietnamese Language Day 2025 plan, carrying practical significance in connecting the Vietnamese community in Laos and strengthening the special Vietnam-Laos friendship.

The "Vietnamese Bookcase" is an initiative launched by the SCOV in collaboration with the VEPH, designed to preserve and promote the Vietnamese language among overseas Vietnamese communities.

Its rich content includes textbooks, children’s stories, literature, history, and life skills books, meeting the learning needs of students as well as cultural activities for families.

The "Vietnamese Bookcase" is regarded as a cultural bridge, contributing to the preservation of the national language and identity, while nurturing love for the homeland among younger generations.

This initiative was awarded the National Award for External Information in 2023, affirming its practical value and broad influence.

To date, the "Vietnamese Bookcase" has been introduced in many countries having Vietnamese communities such as Budapest (Hungary), Fukuoka (Japan), Taiwan (China), Paris (France), Prague and Brno (Czech), New Caledonia (France), Melbourne (Australia), Vientiane (Laos), Minsk (Belarus), Udon Thani (Thailand), and Stockholm (Sweden), and will continue to be expanded in the coming time.
