Property heavyweight Sun Group’s affiliate to build $491 mln opera house in Hanoi
Sun City Limited Liability Company, an affiliate of Vietnam’s top real estate developer Sun Group, has received a preliminary in-principle approval from local authorities to build a VND12.75 trillion ($491 million) opera house in Hanoi.
The project, named Pearl Opera House and Cultural Theme Park, will span 191,241 square meters in Quang An ward, Tay Ho district.

With a life span of 50 years, the project aims to create a vibrant green space that meets the capital’s cultural, artistic, and recreational needs, while also serving as a major tourism draw for both domestic and international visitors.
A highlight of the project is a large-scale, modern opera house symbolizing Hanoi, designed as a multifunctional venue for major political and cultural events. It will be part of a broader complex featuring various cultural, artistic, and entertainment facilities.
The project will be implemented in two phases, with phase one involving construction of the Pearl Opera House and phase two covering the development of the cultural theme park.
The timeline spans from Q1/2025 to Q3/2029, with the preparation phase running from Q1 to Q3/2025, implementation from Q4/2025 to Q1/2029, and final construction wrap-up from Q2 to Q3/2029.
