Thailand’s leading industrial developer Amata has received approval to expand its industrial park in Dong Nai province by 26.7 hectares.

Provincial authorities approved the new 1-to-2000 ratio plan for the facility on Wednesday, enlarging it to 539.73 hectares. The approval is the next step of the expansion process, which was passed by Dong Nai’s legislative body in September 2022. The industrial park has been fully occupied since 2022 with about 60,000 workers.

The expanded area includes 18.47 hectares for factories and warehouses, 4.6 hectares for trees, and 3.65 hectares for traffic infrastructure.

Overall, the industrial park will feature 367.16 hectares for warehouses and factories, 8.46 hectares for technical infrastructure, 73.17 hectares for trees, 75.44 hectares for traffic infrastructure, and 15.5 hectares for administration.

Amata recorded a revenue of THB286 million ($8.3 million) from its activities in Vietnam in the first quarter of this year, according to the firm’s report. In Vietnam, the firm did not make any revenue from industrial land sales in the period, but gained a revenue of THB278 million ($8.1 million) from utilities and services, tripling year-on-year, and posted a revenue of THB8 million ($2.47 million) from rentals of ready built factories, about one-seventh of last year.

The underperformance in the rental segment in Vietnam was due to the fact that Amata sold off some of its ready-built factory real estate in Vietnam last year, so there were less available units for rent.

Amata is running five projects in Vietnam. In the north, the 7.14-square-kilometer Amata City Halong in Quang Ninh province has a prime location 30 kilometers from a deep-water seaport, 30 kilometers from an international airport, and 200 kilometers from the Vietnam-China border.

In central Vietnam, Amata’s Quang Tri project is progressing. The one-square-kilometer facility will utilize Quang Tri province’s strategic development of power plants, a deep-water seaport, motorways, and others.

In the south, Amata City Bien Hoa, Amata Township Long Thanh, and the newly-built Amata City Long Thanh Hi-Tech Industrial Park, all in Dong Nai province, cover 5.13 square kilometers, 7.53 square kilometers, and 4.1 square kilometers, respectively.
