Unilever to expand investment capital at southern Vietnam plant to $105 mln
Unilever Vietnam plans to raise the investment capital of its factory in Ho Chi Minh City, a southern metropolis, to VND2.7 trillion ($104.5 million), according to a recent environmental impact assessment report.
The expansion of the 11-hectare facility, located in Northwest Cu Chi Industrial Park, Cu Chi district, includes installation of a new production line with an annual capacity of 14,000 tons of liquid sorbitol.
Sorbitol is a key raw material used in the production of Unilever’s toothpaste brands, including P/S, Close Up, and Pepsodent. The expansion aims to secure a stable internal supply of inputs and reduce reliance on external suppliers.

Unilever stated that the liquid sorbitol produced will be used exclusively for in-house manufacturing and will not be sold commercially. The factory’s total annual toothpaste output will remain unchanged at 60,000 tons, it said.
The expansion timeline includes facility renovation from April to December 2025, equipment installation between October 2025 and February 2026, trial operations from February to April 2026, and official launch starting April 2026.
