Vietnam has third female deputy foreign minister
Nguyen Minh Hang, assistant minister of foreign affairs, has been appointed deputy minister of foreign affairs, the third woman obtaining this rank so far in Vietnam.

Hang, 47, started her diplomatic career in 2000 and has held multiple posts related to international integration, multilateral diplomacy, and economic diplomacy.
Before reaching the latest position, she was deputy director of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), minister counselor at the Vietnamese Embassy in Singapore, director of the Multilateral Economic Cooperation Department, and then director of the Department of General Economic Affairs cum assistant minister.
Besides Hang, Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son has other four deputies namely Nguyen Minh Vu, Ha Kim Ngoc, Do Hung Viet, and Le Thi Thu Hang. The two latter were appointed last December.
Former deputy minister of foreign affairs To Anh Dung was arrested in April 2022 and was sentenced to 16 years in prison in July for taking bribes in the scandalous repatriation flight case during the Covid-19 pandemic.
