Vietnam named in world's top 5 destinations to visit this summer

Vietnam has been named among the world's top five destinations to visit this summer by U.S. travel site Travel Off Path.

"Cities like Hanoi have seen a search and booking rate increase of up to 298%, Da Nang 439%, and Ho Chi Minh City 219%," the travel site wrote, citing data of Expedia, the world's leading online travel site.

"These searches prove there’s more to the world than stereotypical destinations that people go to every year," it added.

According to Travel Off Path, "Hanoi is the country’s capital and is known as its art capital. You can find some of the city’s most exciting architecture and centuries-old culture."

The other destinations on the list are Japan, New Zealand, France and Italy.

In early March, Vietnam was named among the 21 life-changing trips everyone should experience at least once by New York-based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.

"A trip through Southeast Asia is a must for any traveler, especially foodies who love street eats. While you could spend weeks in each of these countries, Thailand and Vietnam can easily be paired for an exciting trip packed with lush scenery, cultural experiences, and delicious food," it commented.

In mid-February, Vietnam was named among 20 of the world's best-value destinations by leading Australian travel site Traveller.

Previously, the country was listed among the 20 best slow travel holidays for 2023 with "a salubrious wellness journey" by the Traveller.
