Vietnam parliament to okay 15 draft laws, consider transnational high-speed railway proposal
The ongoing session of the National Assembly, Vietnam’s highest legislative body, is scheduled to approve 15 draft laws, including those related to investment, pharmacy, bidding, and securities.
Among such draft laws are the amended Trade Union Law; Law on Geology and Minerals; Law on Fire Prevention, Fighting and Rescue; Law on Rural and Urban Planning; and the amended Value Added Tax Law.
The parliament is also set to okay amendments and supplements to a number of articles of the Pharmacy Law; Planning Law; Investment Law; Law on Public-Private Partnership Investment; Bidding Law; Law on Securities; Law on Accounting, Law on Independent Audit, and Law on Tax Administration.

Parliament members will give opinions on 13 other draft laws, including the Law on Digital Technology Industry; Law on Data; the amended Electricity Law; the amended Law on Chemicals; Law on Management and Investment of State Capital at Enterprises; the amended Law on Special Consumption Tax; the amended Law on Corporate Income Tax; the amended Law on Employment; and the Law amending and supplementing a number of articles of the Advertising Law.
They will consider and decide on some socio-economic issues, state budget allocation for 2025, personnel issues, among others.
The legislative body is also scheduled to consider upgrading Thue Thien Hue province's status to a centrally-managed city and a North-South high-speed raiway proposal from the government.
The National Assembly meeting this time will take place within 29.5 days, including two phases. Phase 1 will last from October 21 to November 13, and phase 2 from November 20 to the morning of November 30.
On the first day of the session, Monday October 21, Luong Cuong, a permanent member of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, was elected by the parliament as Vietnam’s State President for the term 2021-2026.
