Vietnam Prime Minister arrives in China for 4-day trip, third in one year
Vietnam's Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh arrived in Dalian city, Liaoning province, China on Monday for a working trip from June 24 to 27, his third visit to China in a year.
During the four-day stay, PM Chinh will attend the 15th World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting of the New Champions, also his second attendance at the event in a row.

The visit is made at the invitation of Chinese Premier Li Qiang and WEF founder and executive chairman Klaus Schwab. Under the theme of “Next Frontiers for Growth,” the WEF event will feature 1,600 delegates from about 80 economies.
At the WEF event, PM Chinh is set to deliver a speech, join WEF founder Klaus Schwab to chair dialogues with businesses, chair a talk with innovative businesses, and have bilateral meetings with global leaders and business executives.
In 2023, Pham Minh Chinh visited China on June 25-28 to attend the WEF in Tianjin and then on September 16-19 to attend the 20th China-ASEAN Expo (CAEXPO).
Besides, during the working trip, Chinh and his delegation will conduct bilateral activities with China to maintain high-level strategic exchanges, strengthen political trust, materialize the high-level common perceptions and the two joint statements reached during the recent visits by the two Communist parties' leaders – Xi Jinping and Nguyen Phu Trong.
The activities will focus on cross-border railway connectivity, border economic cooperation, exports via the official channel, high-quality investment attraction, sustainable tourism, and skilled personnel training.
After his arrival in China, the government head had meetings with executives of China’s state-owned locomotive manufacturer CRRC Corporation Limited (CRRC) and state-owned Power Construction Corporation of China (PowerChina).
PM Pham Minh Chinh makes the China visit a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin visited Vietnam on June 19-20. During the visit, Vietnam and Russia issued a joint statement on deepening their comprehensive strategic partnership, building on the achievements of the three-decade implementation of their Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations.
Then on June 21-22, U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for East Asian and Pacific Affairs Daniel J. Kritenbrink arrived in Hanoi for a visit.
During his stay, Kritenbrink, who was U.S. ambassador to Vietnam between 2017 and 2021, had meetings with senior Vietnam government officials to “underscore the strong U.S. commitment to implementing the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership and to working with Vietnam in support of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.” During a press encounter last Saturday, Kritenbrink said the trust between the two countries was at an "all-time high."
