Worker dies in southern Vietnam accident

A female worker died in an accident on Saturday at Leoch Super Power Company in Chon Thanh township, Binh Phuoc province.

Vo Thi Ngoc Anh, 39, was standing on the fork of a forklift to repair a steam pipe on a drying oven at the company in Becamex Binh Phuoc Industrial Park on Saturday evening.

During the repairs, the dryer door suddenly opened, pinning her to the door frame, local media reported.

Other workers turned off the control switch but the door did not budge. When the power was turned off and the oven door closed, the victim was taken to the emergency room but succumbed to her injuries.

In another accident, Nguyen Van Luu, 38, was working at a plywood manufacturing company Thursday afternoon, also in Chon Thanh township.

While Luu was pouring a bag of flour into an operating glue mixing tank, the mixer’s rotating arm wrapped around the bag and then pulled him into the mixing tank, which spun him around multiple times.

Nearby workers ran to turn off the power and took the victim with severe injuries to the hospital. On Sunday, the hospital announced that he had died.

In other latest news, six persons including a Chinese national died and five others were injured after a boiler exploded on May 1 at a wooden products factory in Vinh Cuu district, Dong Nai province.

Previously, a serious accident occurred on a stone crushing line at a cement factory located in Yen Binh district, Yen Bai province and owned by Yen Bai Cement & Minerals Joint-Stock Company on April 22, killing seven people.
