$39 mln central Vietnam software park gets resumption greenlight after two-year hiatus
An expanded software park valued at nearly VND1 trillion ($39.3 million) in the central city of Danang will come on stream again after a standstill period of more than two years.
Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Tuesday approved the resumption of Danang Software Park No.2, an expansion of the concentrated information technology zone at the Danang Software Park.
The Danang Software Park No.2 project, owned by the municipal People’s Committee, covers 28,573 square meters in Thuan Phuoc ward, Hai Chau district.
It includes a 20-floor ICT office building, an eight-floor building as its headquarters and an eight-floor headquarters-cafeteria building. The project is expected to create 6,000 tech jobs.
Although the construction of the facility is mostly complete after breaking ground in 2020, it has not yet become operational due to a lack of regulations governing public property in the IT field.
To address this, the government has introduced special mechanisms for Danang, enabling the project to resume.
In addition to the Danang Software Park, the city is home to the Danang IT Park, developed by Trung Nam Group, and the FPT Complex by FPT Corp.
According to the municipal Department of Information and Communications, Danang posts annual IT revenue growth of 10-15% and a 15% increase in software exports.
The digital economy accounted for 20.69% of Danang’s gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in 2023, surpassing the 2025 target of 20%. The city has 2.3 tech firms per 1,000 residents, triple the national average.
