Biel Crystal to operate $260 mln Vietnam project from Q3

Singapore-headquartered Biel Crystal Private Limited, under China’s Biel Crystal, aims to put its $260 million plant in the northern province of Hai Duong into official operation from the third quarter of 2025.

According to a recent project report, the project is set to complete administrative procedures in 2024, install equipment in Q2/2025, and recruit workers and conduct trial and official production in Q3/2025.

Biel Crystal, a supplier for Apple, Samsung, and Huawei, received an investment registration certificate for its investment in Hai Duong in October 2023 and then an adjustment to the certificate in March 2024.

The project has an annual capacity of 128.8 million glass and sapphire protection layers for phones, computers, watches, tablets, automobile screens; 121.5 million glass and sapphire components for cameras of electronic goods; 154 million plastic protection layers for glass and sapphire components of phones, computers, watches; and 7.5 million screens for automobiles.

Covering 30 hectares in An Phat 1 Industrial Park, the project has demand for 19,600 laborers, including 19,000 locals and 600 foreigners.

Registered foreign direct investment (FDI) in Vietnam hit $38.23 billion in 2024, down 3% year-on-year, according to the Ministry of Planning and Investment. Singapore ranked first among all investors with $10.2 billion, up 31.4% year-on-year.

Hai Duong ranked 15th among all cities and provinces in Vietnam as recipients, with $816.9 million, down 34.5% year-on-year.
