Central Vietnam province Binh Dinh to select solar, wind power investors via tender
Vietnam’s central coastal province of Binh Dinh has allocated land plots for 22 projects, including eight for solar, wind, and geothermal power development, that will seek investors via tender.
Specifically, there are three solar power projects – one covering 120 hectares in An Nhon township, and two others with a combined area of 129 ha in Hoai Nhon township.
The four wind power projects comprise the Hon Trau - Phase 1 with an area of 49.22 ha across Phu Cat and Phu My districts and Quy Nhon town, a 50-ha plant in Vinh Thanh district, and two others spanning 119 ha in Van Canh district.
The 15 MW Hoi Van geothermal power plant is set to cover 4 ha in Phu Cat district, with a total investment of VND850 billion ($32.72 million).

Notably, except for the geothermal power plant, all other power projects are included in the revised National Power Development Plan VIII for 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. Most of these projects already have companies proposing to be their investors.
For example, Nam Hai Tech Co., Ltd has proposed conducting surveys for the Van Canh 1 and 2 wind power plant projects in Van Canh district.
Covering 56 ha, the Van Canh 1 is designed with a capacity of 160 MW and an investment of VND5.64 trillion ($217.1 million).
Meanwhile, the 63-ha Van Canh 2 is planned to have a capacity of 180 MW and an investment of VND6.35 trillion ($244.43 million). Wind measurement towers have already been installed for these projects.
The 143 MW Vinh Thuan wind power plant in Vinh Thanh district, with a total investment of VND4.86 trillion ($187.08 million), has been proposed by Germany’s energy firm wpd.
The 750 MW Hon Trau wind power plant - Phase 1, worth up to VND45 trillion ($1.73 billion), has been proposed by Germany’s PNE AG, a leading renewable energy developer.
Dong Mit Hydroelectric Investment and Construction JSC has conducted a preliminary survey and assessed the radiation potential of the 100 MW Nui Mot Lake solar power plant project in An Nhon township, which will cost about VND2.75 trillion ($105.86 million).
In Hoai Nhon township, the 50 MW Hoai Duc solar power plant, spanning 59 ha with a total investment of VND780 billion ($30.02 million), and the 60 MW Hoai Thanh solar power plant, covering 70 ha with (VND942 billion or $36.26 million), have also undergone preliminary surveys.
The remaining 14 land plots will be put up for bidding to select investors for projects on urban and residential areas, commercial and service facilities, and markets.
The provincial People's Council has announced that the bidding is scheduled from 2025 to 2026, with the exception of one land plot for the Bong Son traditional market and commercial center project (phase 2), which will be carried out from 2025 to 2027.
Under the power source structure approved in the Prime Minister’s Decision No. 768 dated April 15, 2025, Binh Dinh is expected to develop approximately 45 MW in capacity of geothermal and other new energy by 2030.
Binh Dinh now has 21 power plants totaling 878.9 MW. They include 12 small hydropower plants of 347.9 MW, four wind power plants of 107.4 MW, and five solar power plants of 529.5 MWp.
The province is planned to have 175 MW of wind power, 73 MW of hydropower, 15 MW of waste-to-power energy, and 38 MW of rooftop solar power by 2030.
