Central Vietnam province invites Korean Air to launch direct flights

Binh Dinh authorities say they will facilitate Korean Air in launching direct flights from South Korea to Quy Nhon, a popular tourism destination in the central coastal province.

At a Wednesday meeting with Kim Kye Yong, chief representative of Korean Air in Ho Chi Minh City, provincial Chairman Pham Anh Tuan also called on Korean Air to promote tourism and collaborate with travel agencies to bring more tourists to the province.

He said the ongoing expansion of Phu Cat airport would serve as an advantage for Korean Air in launching direct flights. He spoke about the province’s efforts to promote investments in South Korea, including participation in tourism fairs and business meetings.

For his part, Kim Kye Yong praised the attraction of tourism destinations in Binh Dinh and urged the provincial authorities to facilitate greater connectivity with Quy Nhon.

Vietnam welcomed nearly 10 million foreign guests in the first seven months of this year, representing a 51% year-on-year spike and indicating a rebound for the local tourism industry. The number of tourist arrivals rose 1.9% compared to the same period in pre-pandemic 2019, according to the General Statistics Office.

Binh Dinh's tourist intake was 6.68 million in the seven-month period, including 49,050 foreigners, of which 2,715 were from South Korea, up 19% year-on-year.
