Construction of third 'backbone' road in Hung Yen province commences
Construction of an expressway connecting Tan Phuc and Vong Phan in Hung Yen, the northern Vietnam province's third "backbone" route, began on Sunday.
The event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, and the 29.2 km-route is expected to cost VND2,986.8 billion ($117 million) from the local budget.
The expressway will pass through 14 communes in the districts of An Thi, Tien Lu, and Phu Cu, and will become the third "backbone" of the province after National Highway 39 and the road connecting the Hanoi-Hai Phong expressway with Cau Gie -Ninh Binh.
Construction is expected to take two years.

Hung Yen province must clear 175 hectares to carry out the project. Currently, site clearance has reached more than 89%, ensuring units can start construction.
Speaking at the event, the prime minister said he believed that after the road is completed, the three districts in Hung Yen will be able to build on their potential and advantages, opening up industrial parks, service areas, and urban areas, increasing the added value of land.
The road will also serve inter-provincial and inter-regional economies, contributing to the formation of a modern transportation system in the Red River Delta, and promoting sustainable development in Hung Yen and the whole region.
Chinh requested Hung Yen province to continue focusing on quickly completing site clearance of the remaining land and resettling residents displaced by the project.
The prime minister requested provincial leaders, Party committees, and authorities to regularly inspect and encourage officials and workers to carry out key projects, including the new expressway.
