Da Lat in Vietnam's Central Highlands and the Thai capital of Bangkok are the domestic and international destinations most searched by Vietnamese tourists, respectively, for the upcoming National Day (September 2).

According to online travel website Booking.com, many travelers are planning outstation trips during the National Day holiday. Data from searches on the website between August 31 and September 3, 2024 indicates that Vietnamese tourists are looking for experiences that offer both relaxation and exploration.

Da Lat tops the list of trending domestic destinations this year. Its tranquil setting with picturesque French-style architecture have been a popular tourist for long. This marks the second consecutive year that Da Lat has held the top spot, according to the website.

Coastal destinations are also popular, with Danang city ranked second, followed by Vung Tau town (Ba Ria Vung Tau province) and Nha Trang town (Khanh Hoa province).

Ho Chi Minh City (ranked 5th), Hoi An town (Quang Nam province – 6th), Hanoi (7th), the coastal town of Phan Thiet (Binh Thuan province – 8th), the northern highlands town of Sapa (Lao Cai province – 9th) and Hue town (Thua Thien Hue province – 10th) are other popular domestic destinations favored for their rich coastal, historical and cultural offerings.

Notably, Phan Thiet has entered the list of top 10 searched destinations on the site for the first time, thanks in part to the new Dau Giay-Phan Thiet expressway that has significantly reduced travel time from HCMC.

The Asia-Pacific region remains popular among Vietnam international travellers with Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (South Korea), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Singapore, and Hong Kong (China) leading choices during long holidays.

Last year, Da Lat was listed as one of Asia's 12 most romantic destinations by New York-based travel magazine Travel + Leisure.
