The Evason Ana Mandara resort stopped welcoming visitors at Duong Beach on Tran Phu street, starting Thursday, according to Khanh Hoa People's Committee, with the beach formally returned to the town for use in social and cultural events.

Since 2010, Khanh Hoa has aimed at reclaiming more than 28,000 square meters of land and a 10,000-square-meter sea surface from the resort for community use.

The resort will move to Cam Ranh Peninsula Tourist Area, Cam Lam district under the new name Evason Ana Mandara Resort & Spa, said Nguyen Tan Tuan, Chairman of the committee.

"These works would generate a lot of waste if destructed. The People's Committee believes it should remain in place to continue serving the locality. Later, with the intention of benefiting the community, the committee will arrange an auction of the land," said Tuan.

According to the resort's representative, visitors will be welcomed back from July 7 at the new 29-hectare Evason Ana Mandara Resort & Spa in Cam Lam district.

Built in 1995, the Evason Ana Mandara resort is situated on Tran Phu street, the busiest tourist route in Nha Trang.

The province has put into effect a plan to spruce up the beach along Tran Phu street as several resorts block local residents' access to the beach. Some had been taken apart.

Khanh Hoa is well-known for its long sandy beaches and spectacular scenery. It contains various well-known bays like Cam Ranh, Van Phong and Nha Trang.
