Foreign investors net buyers in 8 successive sessions

Foreign investors were net buyers for the eighth consecutive session on Wednesday to the tune of nearly VND362.4 billion ($15.4 million) on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE).

They mainly net purchased VPB of VPBank, VRE of Vincom Retail, VIC of Vingroup, and MSN of Masan Group, while net selling DPM of Petrovietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation, DGC of Duc Giang Chemicals, VGC of Viglacera, and NLG of Nam Long Group.

The benchmark VN-Index, which tracks the HoSE performance, rose 2.5 points, or 0.23%, to 1,046.35, with 200 gainers and 184 losers.

Nearly 567 million shares changed hands for more than VND9 trillion ($382.6 million), up 8.8% in trading value from the previous session.

The VN30 index, which features the 30 largest-cap stocks, went up 2.9 points, or 0.28%, to 1,050.15. The basket of blue chips saw a strong divergence with 13 tickers gaining and 13 declining.

Among the gainers, PLX of Petrolimex hit its ceiling price, MSN expanded 3.4%, VPB 2.2%, and CTG of Vietinbank 1.8%. Meanwhile, NVL of Novaland, VIC, and VJC of Vietjet Air were the biggest losers.

The divergence was also seen in many major groups such as banking, securities, and real estate.

Oil and gas made the best impression, with PLX, PVB of Petrovietnam Coating, and PVC of Petrovietnam Construction all hitting their ceiling prices, PVD of Petrovietnam Drilling up 3.2%, and BSR of Binh Son Refinery up 2.9%.

Steel also showed its good performance with HSG of Hoa Sen expanding 2.4%, NKG of Nam Kim 1.9%, and HPG of Hoa Phat 0.8%.

Green also overwhelmed other groups like cement, seaport, and industrial zone property.

The HNX-Index on the Hanoi bourse increased 0.5 points to 213.06, while the UpCOM-Index on the unlisted public company market rose 0.36 points to 72.76.
