Former Deputy PM Truong Hoa Binh subject to disciplinary action
Vietnam's Central Inspection Committee has proposed competent authorities consider disciplining Truong Hoa Binh, former Politburo member and former standing Deputy Prime Minister.
The committee found that Binh, during his tenure as a Politburo member and standing Deputy Prime Minister, violated Party regulations and State laws in performing his duties and in preventing and combating corruption and negativity.
He also violated regulations on Party members' code of conduct and responsibility to set a good example as a leader, the committee said in an annoucement on Friday.
These violations "caused very serious consequences and negative public opinions, undermining the prestige of the Party and the State to the point that disciplinary action is required".

Binh is standing Deputy Prime Minister for the 2016-2021 term. He retired in July 2021.
In December 2024, he was warned by the Politburo, the country's supreme decision-making body, for a number of violations while in office.
On the same day, the Central Inspection Committee issued warnings to Ha Giang province's former Party chief Nguyen Manh Dung, Can Tho city's former Chairman Tran Viet Truong, and Dak Lak province's Chairman Pham Ngoc Nghi for their violations.
The commission also proposed disciplinary actions against four officials, namely Nguyen Van Hieu, an alternate member of the Party Central Committee and deputy head of the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee; Tran Viet Truong, Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee; Nguyen Manh Dung, former acting Party chief of Ha Giang province; Pham Ngoc Nghi, deputy Party chief and Chairman of Dak Lak province.
The officials were found to have violated Party regulations and State laws in performing duties and in preventing and combating corruption and negativity. They also breached rules on Party members' code of conduct and responsibility to set good examples as leaders.
The above violations caused "serious consequences", undermining the prestige of local Party organizations and government "to the point that they must be disciplined".
