Former Party chief, chairman of Vinh Phuc province face disciplinary action

Vietnam’s Central Inspection Committee has proposed disciplining Pham Van Vong, former Party chief of Vinh Phuc, and Phung Quang Hung, former chairman of the northern province, for violations related to Phuc Son Group.

The committee said Vong, also former Party Central Committee member and former chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Hung, also former deputy Party chief of the province, were found to have committed a number of violations.

These officials have shown degradation in their political ideology, ethics, and lifestyle. They violated Party regulations and State laws in carrying out assigned responsibilities and tasks; in preventing and combating corruption, waste and negativity; and in organizing the implemention of projects executed by Phuc Son Group.

Vong and Hung also breached the regulations on Party members’ code of conduct and responsibility to set a good example as leaders, causing very serious consequences, huge damage to the state budget and negative public opinion, and undermining the reputation of Party organizations and the local government to the point that they must be disciplined.

Vinh Phuc province is a manufacturing hub in northern Vietnam, together with Hanoi, Hai Phong, Hai Duong, Hung Yen, Nam Dinh, Bac Ninh, Bac Giang and Thai Nguyen. The province is home to many foreign-invested facilities like those of Toyota, Honda, TOTO and Asahi.

On the same day, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh issued a warning to Nguyen Van Son, chairman of Ha Giang province, for violations related to Thuan An Group.

The violations occurred in organizing the implementation of the Tuyen Quang-Ha Giang Expressway project's contract package No. 4 executed by Thuan An Group.
