Former parliament chairman Vuong Dinh Hue warned for violations

The Politburo, Vietnam's supreme decision making body, on Wednesday issued warnings to Vuong Dinh Hue, former Chairman of the National Assembly, and Nguyen Van The, former Minister of Transport, for violations while on duties.

It is yet to consider disciplining Vo Van The, former State President, as he is undergoing medical treatment.

After considering the Central Inspection Committee’s proposal, the Politburo and the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat found that Vo Van Thuong, Vuong Dinh Hue, Nguyen Van The and a number of other officials had committed violations and shortcomings.

Thuong, while holding the positions of a Party Central Committee member, Party chief of Quang Ngai province for the 2010-2015 term, a Politburo member, head of the Central Propaganda Committee, Standing Secretary of the Party Central Committee’s Secretariat, and State President, violated Party and State regulations in carrying out assigned responsibilities and tasks.

Hue, while serving as a Politburo member and Chairman of the National Assembly, the country's highest legislative body, committed similar violations.

Thuong and Hue also committed violations in preventing and combating corruption and negativity and breaching the rules on Party members’ code of conduct and responsibility to set a good example as leaders.

Their violations caused serious consequences and bad public opinion while undermining the reputation of the Party and the State.

Nguyen Van The as a Party Central Committee member and Minister of Transport violated Party and State regulations in performing assigned responsibilities and tasks in preventing and combating corruption and negativity, and breached the rules on Party members’ code of conduct and responsibility to set a good example.

This caused serious consequences, bad public opinion, and undermined the reputation of Party organizations and State management agencies, the Politburo concluded.
