Vietnam's Party Central Committee has agreed to relieve four people from the position of its members.

The four people include Le Minh Khai, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Prime Minister (former Government Inspector General); and Dang Quoc Khanh, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment (former Party chief of Ha Giang and head of the province's National Assembly delegation).

The other two are Nguyen Xuan Ky, Party chief of Quang Ninh and Chairman of the provincial People’s Council; and Chau Van Lam, Party chief of Tuyen Quang and head of the province's National Assembly delegation.

During a working session chaired by newly-elected Party General Secretary and State President To Lam on Saturday afternoon, the Party Central Committee considered resignation letters of some central and local-level leaders, it stated in a release.

The committee agreed to relieve Le Minh Khai from the position of Secretary of the Party Central Committee and a committee member. The other three were agreed to step down as Party Central Committee members.

Based on Central Inspection Committee reports and Central Organizing Committee proposals, the Party Central Committee found that Le Minh Khai, Dang Quoc Khanh, Nguyen Xuan Ky and Chau Van Lam had "violated the regulations on Party members’ code of conduct and responsibilities to set a good example as leaders, as well as rules on preventing and fighting corruption and wrongdoings.

Aware of their responsibility to the Party and the people, the four people submitted resignation letters, the committee added.

Of the 200 Party Central Committee members elected for the 13th term, 171 people remain at the position.
