Four Vietnamese resorts named among world’s best at leading travel awards
Resorts in Vietnam's central beach city of Da Nang, another on the country's largest island Phu Quoc, and one in the northern highlands town of Sa Pa have been honored among the world’s best at this year’s World Travel Awards.
InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort
Nestled on the hills of Son Tra Peninsula, which acts as a natural shield for Danang, InterContinental Danang Sun Peninsula Resort was voted “World’s leading green resort” at the annual awards ceremony late last week.
Spanning along a private beach stretching 700 meters, it features 201 luxurious rooms, suites, penthouses, and villas that offer views of sandy beaches and tropical forests.
Due to its special location inside a nature reserve that is home to critically endangered species like the red-shanked douc langur, the resort imposes strict policies for guests to protect wildlife.
Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills
Hidden on the peak of Ba Na Hills at almost 1,500 meters above sea level in Danang, Mercure Danang French Village Bana Hills was voted “World’s leading themed resort".
The resort has 461 guest rooms with views of Ba Na Hills, home to a complex of restaurants and entertainment facilities.
The only way to reach Ba Na Hills is by cable car.
From there, guests can easily visit the 150-meter-long Golden Bridge that has become an internet sensation since it opened in 2018.
Hôtel De La Coupole – Mgallery
Built in the misty tourist town of Sa Pa, Hôtel De La Coupole – Mgallery was the winner in the "World’s leading design hotel" category.
Opposite a stone church in downtown Sa Pa, around 300 kilometers from Hanoi, the hotel takes inspiration from its Indochina-style architecture and features over 250 rooms and suites that give visitors a breathtaking view of the Hoang Lien Son mountain range and rice terraces.
The vibrant colors, patterns and textures of the hotel’s interiors are inspired by the hill tribes living in the mountainous areas of Sa Pa to honor local culture.
Sa Pa is home to many ethnic minority groups, mainly Hmong people.
While staying there, guests can easily conquer Mount Fansipan, known as ‘Roof of Indochina’ at a height of at 3,147.3 meters above sea level.
JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa
Only 15 minutes from Phu Quoc International Airport, JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay Resort & Spa along Khem Beach on Vietnam’s largest island off the southern province of Kien Giang was named “World’s leading luxury wedding resort”.
Designed by famed architect Bill Bensley, it was once a French university dating back to the 1890s, that was then converted into a luxury resort with a touch of French-style architecture in combination with modern looks.
It has 234 rooms, suites and stand-alone villas surrounded by green trees, and three swimming pools and a kids pool.
For years now, many international celebrities and billionaires have chosen the resort as their wedding venue.
World Travel Awards, launched in 1993, acknowledge excellence in the travel and tourism industry, and have been described as the "travel industry's equivalent of the Oscars".
The winners were chosen based on votes by the public and travel professionals across the globe.
