HCMC vice chairman dies in car accident
HCMC People’s Committee Vice Chairman Le Hoa Binh died on Tuesday during a trip to the Mekong Delta after his car blew a tire and flipped over.
The accident took place in the morning on HCMC-Trung Luong Expressway, in Long An province en route to the groundbreaking ceremony for Rach Mieu 2 Bridge. The bridge over Mekong River connects Tien Giang and Ben Tre provinces.

Following the accident, an ambulance carried him to the General Hospital of Long An, which neighbors Ho Chi Minh City, in critical condition.
Long An's Department of Health Director Huynh Minh Phuc confirmed at noon that the HCMC official had died at the hospital. His driver and secretary both survived.
Binh, 52, became a HCMC vice chairman in June 2021 and was appointed standing vice chairman last December. His hometown is Quang Ngai province in central Vietnam.
