Japan’s Tokyu seeks trans-Asia railway development in southern Vietnam
Japanese urban development group Tokyu is looking to build part of a trans-Asia railway in Binh Duong province, an industrial hub in southern Vietnam.
Hirohisa Fujiwara, international business director of Tokyu Group, made the statement at a Wednesday meeting with Nguyen Van Loi, chief of Binh Duong Party Committee. Tokyu will also push investment in science-technology, especially semiconductors, following Binh Duong’s priority for investment attraction, he added.

In reply, Nguyen Van Loi said that Binh Duong is transforming towards green and sustainable growth, with a focus on a green industrial ecosystem, circular economy, green energy, and high-tech investment without labor-intensive tasks.
He also called on Tokyu to extend its investments in Binh Duong, such as the transit oriented development model and the production of semiconductor chips.
Tokyu's business portfolio covers real estate, lifestyle services, hotels and resorts, and business support services, and the group has been investing in Binh Duong province via a joint venture with Binh Duong-based business giant Becamex.
The joint venture, Becamex Tokyo, has been investing in the 71-hectare Tokyu urban area project in Binh Duong province since 2021, with registered capital of $1.2 billion. The under-construction project will have service-commercial centers, housing areas, recreational services, and schools.
