Mekong Delta province plans $222 mln industrial park expansion
Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Long An is planning a VND5.64 trillion ($222 million) expansion of its Phuc Long industrial park.
The expansion, carried out by Phuc Long Co. Ltd, will cover 329 hectares in Ben Luc and Can Duoc districts, according to a project approval decision signed by Deputy Prime Minister Le Minh Khai.
The project will be operational until December 29, 2059.
Phuc Long Co. is the developer of the fully-occupied Phuc Long industrial park, which spans 80 ha in Long Hiep commune, Ben Luc district.
Currently, Long An province has a total of 34 IPs covering 9,250 ha. They host over 1,900 projects including 950 foreign-invested ones, employing a total of 183,000 people.
By 2030, the locality is expected to have 51 industrial parks spanning 12,400 ha, potentially coming second nationwide in industrial park area, behind the southern province of Binh Duong.
In 2023, Long An licensed 118 new foreign-invested projects totaling nearly $603 million, as also additional investments of $118 million to 81 projects.
In the first quarter of 2024, the province awarded investment registration certificates to 21 FDI projects valued at $166 million, making it a top 10 locality in the country in terms of attracting foreign investment, according to the provincial Department of Planning and Investment.
Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Dong Nai and Long An are industrial centers in southern Vietnam.
