The Huong Hoa 1 project will have a capacity of 48 megawatts in Quang Tri province. The wind farm will consist of eight wind turbines of 6 MW capacity each, a new 220 kV substation, and a 5-kilometer overhead transmission line to connect with the national grid.

The project owner is LIG-Huong Hoa 1 JSC, an 80-20 joint venture between B.Grimm Renewable Power 1 Ltd. of Thai firm B.Grimm Power Public Co. Ltd. and Vietnam’s Truong Thanh Energy and Real Estate JSC.

AFRY’s assignment includes support in project management, design review, and monitoring of construction and commissioning of the project, the Swedish firm announced from Stockholm on Wednesday.

“Considering AFRY’s track record of more than 250 wind power projects in over 60 countries, with 30 GW of wind power capacity globally and 10 GW in Asia, we are confident that we can add value to projects like this,” said Petteri Harkki, AFRY’s regional director for Asia.

An estimated VND2.1 trillion (around $88 million) is required for the Hoa 1 project. LIG-Huong Hoa 1 JSC has not announced a date for completion.

AFRY claims it has a track record of providing owner’s engineering services for the construction of over 10,000 MW of thermal, hydro, wind, and solar power plants in Vietnam, where the government is seeking to promote its clean energy transition toward its carbon neutrality target by 2050.
