Danang among top places to visit globally this August

Vietnam's central city of Danang was ranked third on a list of the world's nine places to visit in August by popular Scottish flight booking platform SkyScanner.

Vietnam's central city of Danang was ranked third on a list of the world's nine places to visit in August by popular Scottish flight booking platform SkyScanner.

"While north and south Vietnam are right in the middle of monsoon season, Da Nang and the rest of central Vietnam remains dry and sunny during August. Temperatures tend to sit between 24°C to 34°C, perfect for lazy days on the beach or mornings exploring the nearby attractions," it said.

According to the booking platform, Danang is famous for its soft golden sands, clean crystal waters, and watersports, making the city one of Vietnam’s best beach destinations. Start at My Khe Beach or Non Nuoc Beach, which have calm waves perfect for swimming in.

SkyScanner suggested: "One of Vietnam’s most beautiful beaches, it sits in the shadow of the Marble Mountains, a cluster of limestone hills near the city. Take a day to explore the area with its network of natural caves, Buddhist pagodas and Hindu grottoes. It’s also a wonderful place to stop and watch the famous sunset."

"Laid-back Da Nang also makes a great jumping off point for day trips. The port city of Hội An, with its perfectly preserved ancient town, is around an hour away by car. Or, head north to the imperial city of Huế for a visit to the Đại Nội Citadel – once home to the last Vietnamese dynasty, Nguyễn," it added.

The other places mentioned on the list in order are: Bornholm (Denmark), Ljubljana (Slovenia), Seattle (U.S.), Gdańsk (Poland), Maasai Mara (Kenya), Madeira (Portugal), Colombo (Sri Lanka) and Turin (Italy).

In mid-May, Danang was listed among 10 Asia's best scenic mountain vistas by the Microsoft Travel news site.

Danang, a tourism hub, boasts the most beautiful beaches in Southeast Asia. The Golden Bridge in the city topped the list of world's new wonders by the UK’s Daily Mail newspaper.

My Khe beach was recently ranked eighth in the list of Asia's top 10 beaches by the world's largest travel platform TripAdvisor.

About five kilometers from the city center, My Khe runs 10 kilometers from the base of Son Tra Peninsula to Marble Mountains (Ngu Hanh Son). The beach is famous for its blue sky, smooth white sand, gentle slope, clear and warm water year-round, and beautiful areas surrounded by coconut trees.
