Industry ministry appoints new deputy minister

The Prime Minister has appointed Phan Thi Thang, vice chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, as a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

The Prime Minister has appointed Phan Thi Thang, vice chairwoman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee, as a Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade.

Phan Thi Thang, 46, is from An Thanh commune, Ben Luc district, Long An province, southern Vietnam.

She holds a master's degree in economics, a bachelor of economics majoring in accounting, a bachelor of law, and an advanced degree in political theory.

Thang previously worked in Tan Binh district, Ho Chi Minh City. From July 2013 to July 2019, she held the positions of deputy director and director of the municipal Department of Finance.

From July 12, 2019, Thang was vice chairwoman of the HCMC People's Council. At the beginning of December 2020, she was elected as vice chairwoman of the HCMC People's Committee.

Thang is now one of five deputy ministers at the Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with Tran Quoc Khanh, Do Thang Hai, Dang Hoang An, and Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan.
