Northern Vietnam glass bridge recognized by Guinness as world's longest
Guinness World Record on Saturday recognized a 632-meter-long bridge in Son La province, northwestern Vietnam as the world's longest glass bridge.
The bridge, named Bach Long (White Dragon), has become a renowned tourist destination since its debut in late April. Previously, the 526-meter-long bridge in China's Huangchuan Three Gorges had held the record.

The bridge, located in Moc Chau Island Tourist Area, also set a second Guinness world record for having the world's longest glass-bottom cliff side path, measuring 327 meters.
Crossing two 305-meter-long gorges, the bridge is suspended 150 meters above a lush jungle. Its floor is made from tempered glass and can support up to 450 people at once.
The main bridge deck is 2.4 meters wide, while the glass approach along the cliff is 1.5 meters wide. The bridge has two 30-meter-high towers, with the height between the bridge deck and ground being about 150 meters.
The glass floor offers tourists amazing views of the scenery below while braving the "scary" walk. To create a sense of thrill, the bridge has an eye-catching lighting system that uses 9D effect technology and 60 simulated visual and sound effects.
Construction on the project began in early 2021, with a total investment of VND773 billion ($33.2 million).
Tourists, after experiencing the sheer drop into the river and cliffs below, can visit Muong Mooc Cave, known as Holy Bird Cave, at the bridge's foot to explore natural stalactites and stone carvings depicting the daily lives of ancient Thai ethnic people.
Apart from the bridge area, visitors can participate in activities like bungee jumping, zording, ziplining, or swinging over an abyss.
The site is part of Moc Chau Plateau, a region of cool temperature, tea hills and ethnic villages. About 200 kilometers west of Hanoi and around 1,000 meters above sea level, the plateau lures visitors with its average temperatures of 20 degrees Celsius. These conditions make Moc Chau one of the best choices to escape the urban hustle and bustle.
Son La province is also home to another glass bridge, which is 80 meters long and named Love. The country's first is the 60-meter-long Cloud Dragon in neighboring Lai Chau province.
The mountainous province of Son La lies in the heart of northwestern Vietnam. It is an ideal hillside getaway with charming green tea hills and other famous landscapes like Moc Chau Plateau, Mang Village, and Ngu Dong Ban On, an underground system of five caves.
