Petrovietnam Gas to receive 70,000 tons of LNG from QatarEnergy LNG next month
QatarEnergy LNG, the biggest LNG producer in the world, is set to deliver 70,000 tons of LNG to Petrovietnam Gas (PV Gas), a subsidiary of state-owned oil-gas group Petrovietnam, on April 12-13.
In a Wednesday announcement, PV Gas said the delivery, also the first of its kind this year, is set to take place at the Thi Vai LNG terminal in the southern province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau, currently the first and only one of its kind in Vietnam.
The move would fortify PV Gas, the first and only LNG importer in Vietnam at the moment, as a leading energy player in the country.

QatarEnergy LNG is currently the biggest LNG firm in the world with an annual production capacity of 77 million tons, or one-fifth of the global figure, PV Gas highlighted.
The LNG supply aims to serve industrial production and ensure national energy security as the dry season, a peak season for energy consumption in Vietnam, is approaching, PV Gas added.
In October 2023, PV Gas, listed on the Ho Chi Minh Stock Exchange (HoSE) as GAS, inaugurated its $300-million LNG Thi Vai terminal with an annual capacity of one million tons, the first and biggest such facility in Vietnam. Construction of the terminal started in October 2019 and was carried out by Samsung C&T and Petrovietnam’s technical arm PTSC.
The facility has a 180,000 cubic meter tank whose capacity can be expanded from one million to three million tons in the second phase. It is also capable of accommodating ships of up to 100,000 deadweight tonnages, delivering LNG via road in tankers and connecting with the LNG Thi Vai-Phu My pipeline.
