Adamed Pharma, a leading pharmaceutical and biotechnology group in Poland, plans to expand its investment in Vietnam, said Malgorzata Adamkiewicz, president of the company’s supervisory board.

In a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh in Warsaw on Friday, Adamkiewicz noted that Adamed recognizes Vietnam’s significant investment potential, given its impressive growth, and the strong support from the government and local authorities.

Adamed currently operates two manufacturing plants in Poland and one in Vietnam. The Polish firm is modernizing Davipharm's R&D center and factory in the southern province of Binh Duong.

She noted that Davipharm, a member of Adamed Group, is one of the few companies in Vietnam that have achieved EU-GMP certification for providing high-quality medicines across 12 different treatment areas. The firm not only serves Vietnamese patients but also exports to international markets.

Adamed acquired a 70% stake in Davipharm at the end of 2017, and later purchased the remaining 30% in April 2023, becoming the sole owner of the Vietnamese company. To date, Adamed’s committed capital in Vietnam has reached nearly $60 million.

PM Pham Minh Chinh, who is on an official visit to Poland from Thursday to Saturday, congratulated the Polish firm on its successful investment in Vietnam and welcomed its plans to expand further.

This aligns with Vietnam's investment encouragement policy, particularly in high-tech industries that support healthcare and improve the quality of life for Vietnamese people, he noted.

“Along with producing medicines to meet Vietnamese people's healthcare needs, Adamed should expand production to cater to the ASEAN region, Asia, and the global market,” he suggested.

The Prime Minister also encouraged the company to take full advantage of the 17 free trade agreements (FTAs) that Vietnam has signed with 60 major markets worldwide, including European countries.

He expressed hope that by improving product quality and reducing production costs, Adamed will strengthen its brand and increase the availability of its products, including those produced by Adamed Vietnam (Davipharm).

PM Chinh urged the Polish company to expand its investment and transfer technology to Vietnam, affirming that the Vietnamese government will provide optimal conditions and address any obstacles to ensure the company’s smooth and efficient development in the country.

On the same day, Chinh met with Michal Fijol, acting president of Poland's national airline LOT Airlines in Warsaw. He suggested the airline resume its direct flight route to Vietnam.

In 2010, LOT launched a new flight route from Warsaw to Hanoi, which initially saw great success. However, this route has been temporarily suspended since 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Praising LOT's successful business operations despite global uncertainties, PM Chinh expressed appreciation for its cooperation with Vietnam Airlines in passenger and cargo transportation services.

He acknowledged LOT's proposals regarding the resumption of operations in the Vietnamese market, confirming that there are no obstacles to this, as Vietnam is expanding airports such as Tan Son Nhat, Phu Quoc, and Nha Trang.

The leader also assured that he would instruct the relevant Vietnamese agencies to address these proposals in accordance with regulations.

He encouraged the Polish airline to take the lead in reopening flights to Vietnam and to continue collaborating with Vietnam Airlines to operate routes to Southeast Asia, including charter flights.

These efforts would help bring tourists to popular destinations such as Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Nha Trang, Ha Long, Phu Quoc, as well as other countries in the region under the "one route, many destinations" model.

“The Government is committed to always creating favorable conditions, in line with legal regulations, for LOT in particular and Polish investors in general, to invest and do business effectively and sustainably in Vietnam,” PM Chinh pledged.

Michal Fijol, for his part, noted that LOT is one of the oldest airlines in the world and the 18th largest in Europe. As of August 2024, the airline had operated a fleet of 80 aircraft, serving 105 destinations across Europe, Asia, and North America.

The airline is focusing on restoring its business relations with Vietnam, particularly with the goal of resuming the Warsaw-Hanoi route. Fijol added that LOT plans to continue expanding its aviation business in Vietnam, including passenger transport, tourism, cargo, infrastructure development, and airport operations.

The carrier is also operating charter flights between Warsaw and Phu Quoc and brought 15,000 Polish tourists to Vietnam in 2024.
