The tour company will research, survey and test tourism products between November 1 and November 31, 2022 in the commune’s flooded areas.

The survey and testing will only be carried out when flooding occurs. If it does not happen this month, the company can do the work during the first flooding in 2023. It can only do so when the weather conditions are favorable - without heavy rain, strong winds etc.

The central province’s People's Committee requires Oxalis to comply with regulations when using equipment and means; ensure absolute safety for individuals participating in survey and testing activities; protect natural landscapes; ensure environmental hygiene; respect the culture and lifestyle of locals; create jobs and livelihoods and support local authorities and communities in disaster prevention and control.

It has also directed the Minh Hoa district administration to oversee the survey carried about by Oxalis, coordinating with relevant units to offer guidance.

Oxalis is the travel agency that holds exclusive rights to organize tours to the biggest natural cave on the planet, Son Doong, and carries out expedition tours to other places in the Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park including the Va, En, Tu Lan, Tien and Nuoc Nut caves as also explore the forest in Ba Cave.

Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park was inscribed on UNESCO's World Heritage List in 2003. It features great geological diversity and offers spectacular phenomena while harboring a high level of biodiversity and many endemic species.

Nguyen Chau A, general director of Oxalis, said the pilot tour will facilitate diversification of tourism products and bring more tourists to the locality even during rainy days.

"Tourists can go kayaking to visit floating houses, learn about people's life during the flooding season and enjoy local landcapes,” he said.

Tan Hoa commune has an area of over 7,000 hectares with six villages, nearly 700 households and 3,300 residents. Because it is a low-lying area, it experiences flooding two to three times every year.
