Quang Tri authorities strive to complete site clearance for the Quang Tri Industrial Park (QTIP), also known as VSIP Quang Tri, in August, said the central Vietnam province's Party chief Le Quang Tung.

The provincial leader made the statement during a Tuesday on-site check of the facility. He requested Hai Lang district to work with local residents to speed up the progress, and even use strong enforcement measures if necessary.

So far, QTIP has completed site clearance for 93.6 hectares of the project, while that for the remaining 2.4 hectares of the first phase is underway.

The investor is leveling 30 hectares, aiming to attract two to three tenants next year.

Completion of site clearance in August can help the industrial park sign land lease agreements with tenants from October, a QTIP representative said.

QTIP also urged provincial authorities to soon issue site clearance plans for the facility’s second and third phases.

In reply, Tung asked the provincial Economic Zone Authority to work with relevant agencies to draft an implementation plan.

The construction of VSIP Quang Tri began in December 2023. The VND2.07 trillion ($85.3 million) project is a joint investment by three major players: Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park J.V. Co. Ltd., well known for its VSIP facilities; Thailand-invested Amata Bien Hoa JSC, known for the Amata industrial parks; and Japan’s Sumitomo Corporation, the investor of Thang Long, Thang Long II, and Thang Long Vinh Phuc industrial parks in the northern region.

The project received prime ministerial approval in March 2021, covering 480 hectares in three phases. The first phase of VND500 billion ($20.6 million) covers 97 hectares.

The facility will focus on green operations toward sustainable growth, such as utilization of renewable energy and waste reduction.
