Soc Trang authorities are calling for investment in a 4,550 hectare seaport project in the Mekong Delta province.

The Soc Trang seaport project, set to be located in Tran De district, Vinh Chau town, also includes the development of dock and warehousing infrastructure, as well as logistical seaport services.

Located on the Tran De Express pier, the seaport would be easily accessible via the Nam Song Hau national highway, Chau Doc – Can Tho – Soc Trang expressway, coastal routes, and north-south routes.

The project has been added by the Prime Minister to the master plan on development of Vietnam's seaport system in 2021-2030, with a vision to 2050. It was also included in the list of projects calling for foreign investment in 2021-2025.

The project is entitled to a preferential corporate income tax rate of 10% for 15 years; tax exemption for four years, and 50% tax reduction in the next nine years, as well as exemption from land and water surface rent for the whole lease period.

It also enjoys duty exemptions for imported commodities used to generate fixed assets, and duty exemptions for raw materials and components that cannot be domestically produced for five years, starting from the commencement of production.

Soc Trang seaport is one of 35 notable projects seeking investment at the province’s investment promotion conference scheduled on April 28, 2022.

These include nine industrial park development projects like the 286 hectare Song Hau, the 200 hectare Dai Ngai, and the 217 hectare My Thanh, and five energy projects, including the 2,000 megawatt Vinh Chau 1 and 1,000 MW Vinh Chau 2 offshore wind power projects.

Investors may also be interested in the 70 hectare golf course in Song Phu commune, Long Phu district, one of two trade and service projects; and the 22.75 hectare forest and entertainment park in Soc Trang town, which is one of two local tourism projects.

Besides, two agriculture projects include the 662.88 hectare agri-ecotourism project in Thuc May town and another 314.25 hectare project in My Tu district.

The remainder comprises one transportation project and seven urban area projects like the 45.92 hectare Nam Song Hau new urban area in Long Phu town, Long Phu district.
