Suntory Pepsico Vietnam Beverage (SPVB) plans to increase the annual output of its under-construction factory in the southern province of Long An by 56% to 1.24 billion liters.

In a recent report on the project, SPVB said the project, located in Huu Thanh Industrial Park, initially has an annual output of 796.1 million liters. To facilitate the change, SPVB will relocate four production lines in Ho Chi Minh City to the Long An facility.

The project plans to install one bottled water line of 236 million liters a year and one carbonated drink line of 222 million liters a year in 2025, relocate two carbonated drink lines of 199 million liters per year from HCMC in 2025, move two bottled water lines totaling 249 million liters per year from HCMC in 2026, and install one non-carbonated drink line of 136 million liters per year and one carbonated drink line of 202 million liters per year in 2028.

Overall, the project’s yearly output includes 136 million liters of non-carbonated drinks, 623 million liters of carbonated drinks, and 485 million liters of bottled water, all serving the domestic market. The plant is set to utilize 57,504 tons of sugar yearly as one of its input materials.

SPVB aims to build the factory from the second quarter of 2024 to Q4/2025, install equipment in Q3/2025-Q1/2026, and enter official operation from Q1/2026.

In April 2024, Suntory PepsiCo Vietnam Beverage, a joint venture between Japan-based Suntory and U.S.-based PepsiCo, kicked off the construction of its $300-million factory in Long An province.

Covering 20 hectares at the Huu Thanh Industrial Park, the project is among the biggest-ever foreign direct investment (FDI) projects licensed in the province. It is set to be completely powered by renewable energy sources including biomass and solar power.

This is Suntory Pepsico’s sixth project in Vietnam and is set to become its biggest and most modern project in the Asia-Pacific region.
