PepsiCo Foods Vietnam has broken ground on its $90-million snack manufacturing plant in the northern province of Ha Nam as the company marks its 30 years of presence in the country.

Construction is scheduled to be finished in the third quarter of next year. The plant will be powered with rooftop solar panels and biomass systems from local agricultural waste.

Once operational, the plant would generate over 1,000 jobs in direct and indirect employment in manufacturing, logistics, packaging, and agriculture.

To feed the plant, PepsiCo Foods Vietnam will source raw materials in Ha Nam and northern provinces with regenerative agriculture and digital technology.

The company is partnering with the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, local agriculture cooperatives, and farmers to implement regenerative agricultural practices, enhancing soil health, reducing carbon emissions, and maximizing crop yields.

Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Truong Quoc Huy, Chairman of Ha Nam province, said with the new plant, the province wants to effectively utilize favorable conditions in terms of climate and land for growing clean crops, developing high-tech agriculture, and bringing great economic efficiency.

PepsiCo products are consumed more than one billion times a day in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. PepsiCo generated over $91 billion in net revenue in 2023, driven by a complementary beverage and convenient foods portfolio that includes Lay’s, Doritos, Cheetos, Gatorade, Pepsi-Cola, Mountain Dew, Quaker, and SodaStream.

PepsiCo’s product portfolio includes iconic brands that generate more than $1 billion each in estimated annual retail sales.
