Murphy Cuu Long Bac Oil Co, Ltd. (MCB) and PTSC Mechanical & Construction (PTSC M&C) have held the first-cut ceremony to build a central processing platform for activities at Block 15-1/05 offshore Vietnam.

In a Thursday statement, PTSC, the parent firm of PTSC M&C, said the platform, named Lac Da Vang – A, is being constructed at PTSC M&C’s facility in Vietnam’s southern coastal province of Ba Ria-Vung Tau. MCB is a subsidiary of the U.S.-headquartered Murphy Oil Corporation.

This is the first collaboration between Murphy Oil and PTSC M&C for project development, PTSC said.

The platform, part of Lac Da Vang Phase 1A development within the Lac Da Vang Oil Field Development project, will process crude oil to meet export quality standards, deliver it to the pipeline, and direct it to the infield floating storage and offloading (FSO) vessels for storage and subsequent offloading.

The Lac Da Vang - A Platform comprises topsides with two modules and a flare boom, weighing over 6,000 tons, along with a jacket and piles weighing more than 4,500 tons. It is expected to complete the offshore installation by the third quarter of 2026.

Block 15-1/05 is located in the Cuu Long Basin on the southeast continental shelf of Vietnam, approximately 120 kilometers to the east of Ba Ria-Vung Tau.

The ceremony also had the attendance of representatives from Petrovietnam Exploration Production Corporation (PVEP), a key stakeholder at Block 15-1/05; South Korean petroleum exploration firm SK Earthon, also a stakeholder at the block; and state-owned energy firm Petrovietnam.

At the event, Roger Jenkins, CEO of Murphy Oil Corporation, said the firm will continue to work together with PTSC M&C in order to execute a safe and efficient operation and strive to deliver this significant energy infrastructure project to all of our stakeholders, including Vietnam and its people.
