Vietjet opens Hanoi-Sydney routes after Vietnam-Australia relationship upgrade
Vietnamese budget carrier Vietjet has announced the launch of a direct air link between Hanoi and the port city of Sydney, days after Vietnam and Australia upgraded their diplomatic ties to a comprehensive strategic partnership.

The Hanoi-Sydney route will come online on June 8, 2024, with two return flights per week, with a flight time of around 10 hours per leg.
The flights from Hanoi to Sydney depart on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 17:10 (local time) and arrive in Sydney at 06:10 the following day (local time). The flights from Sydney to Hanoi depart on Thursdays and Sundays at 8:30 (local time) and arrive in Hanoi at 16:00 on the same day (local time).
With the latest air link announcement, Vietjet raises the total number of routes connecting Vietnam and Australia to seven.
The private carrier announced the opening of direct flights between Hanoi and Melbourne on March 5 in the presence of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh who was visiting Australia to announce the bilateral relationship elevation.
In addition, Vietjet is conducting flights between Ho Chi Minh City and five Australian cities – Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane, Sydney, and Melbourne.
