Vietnam central bank has new deputy governor

Nguyen Ngoc Canh, vice chairman of the Commission for the Management of State Capital at Enterprises (CMSC), has been appointed Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam (SBV), the country's central bank.

Canh will assume the new role for five years, starting from March 1, according to an announcement by SBV Governor Nguyen Thi Hong on Tuesday.

Born in 1972, Canh holds a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in economics from the UK’s University of Birmingham.

He has previously held positions of director of the international cooperation department at the State Securities Commission, assistant to the SBV Governor, and director of the SBV’s foreign exchange department.

Following this appointment, the SBV leadership will consist of Governor Nguyen Thi Hong and Deputy Governors Dao Minh Tu, Doan Thai Son, Pham Tien Dung, Pham Thanh Ha, Pham Quang Dung, and Nguyen Ngoc Canh.
