Vietnam workers to have 19 official days off in 2023
Workers in Vietnam will have 19 days off work in 2023 for public holidays including the Tet (Lunar New Year) break.
The holidays comprise of 11 official holidays and compensatory rest, extended due to the overlapping of weekends, according to the Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs.

The ministry has reported to the Prime Minister the plan for the Lunar New Year holiday and National Day holiday in 2023 after collecting opinions from ministries and ministerial-level agencies.
Accordingly, the Lunar New Year break is expected to last seven days, from January 20 to January 26, 2023.
The National Day holiday will last four days from September 1 to September 4, 2023.
The New Year's Day holiday will break for three days, from December 31, 2022 to January 2, 2023, because the first day of the year falls on a Sunday. Civil servants and employees will have a compensatory day’s leave the following Monday.
The Hung Kings death anniversary, Reunification Day (April 40) and International Labor Day (May 1) combined will last five days from April 29 to May 3.
The above schedule will apply to civil servants and public employees, but the labor ministry encourages all companies to apply it for employees.
Apart from the national holidays, foreign workers in Vietnam are allowed to have one day off for their traditional New Year’s day and another for their home country's National Day.
